34/365

This is a set of stairs that leads from the library in our town down to the Ohio River. There used to be older ones here but they finally got around to replacing them. I just thought they looked cool.

  1. Lovely! I keep straining to read what is written in the concrete!

  2. It is the names of like the class of 1929 or something at the local high school. They were the ones who came up with the ideas of the stairs to represent linking education (library/formerly high school) at the top to commerce (river/docks) at the bottom. Originally there was supposed to be a plaque added every year for that graduating class but then the Great Depression hit. They were restored in the last couple of years and all the names readded.
