Finally, blue skies. The electricity is back on along with cable and internet, the ice is melting and we are returning to our modern noisy way of life but the ice still looks peaceful.

I just loved this scene with the snow and the ice and the barn. It was so calm with everyone at home and no tvs, phones, etc.

16/365

This is a lantern from the cemetary behind our house. There were so many things to take pictures of with the ice. It was really very beautiful if you could get past the fact that you were without electricity, internet, etc.

We had a ball playing in the snow. Well, it was actually a few inches of ice with a few inches of snow on top. Made for fast sledding though. Eli hates to have his picture taken so you will probably not see him much during this project. For once though when I said, "look at mommy", he did.

This was the first of 4 days without electricity and boredom had already set in. She was watching the snow/rain/sleet come down outside. We had told her she couldn't go out until it had stopped and she was waiting patiently, at this moment, for it to stop.

I have always loved this arch over the railroad tracks. It is in a small town down the road from us called Irvington. When the railroads were a mainstay of transportation Irvington was a bustling little metro but as the railroad industry was overtaken by others it has been slowly dying out. Now it is just a speck on the map with a Dollar Store, a Rite Aid and an IGA and not much else.

Sooo, I know this is not the best picture but it was not the best day. My mom was sick with bad back pains all morning so finally I took her to Acutecare that afternoon. She had a bad bladder infection. I didn't have time to really take any pics so I finally just took one of the light in the exam room.

We try to do a date night or day with each of our kids every month. While Darrell was in Cincinatti this weekend I took the oldest two to see Hotel for Dogs and then to Culver's for dinner. We had a great time. The movie was cute and the food was good.

10/365

Today was actually one of those days when I had a hard time picking what picture to post. I had a couple of good ones today. However, I finally went with the sunrise. It was such a beautiful way to start what ended up to be a beautiful day. Highs in the 50s, got to take the kids to the playground. Very nice day all the way around.

9/365

This was just another day of playing with settings, aperture to be specific. This is just some random lights in town but I really like the effect I got.

8/365

Today I was playing around with the manual settings on my camera and trying to get a blurry background with an in focus subject. Obviously with this picture I didn't get it but I like the way it turned out. I was trying to get a good picture of the cat but she refused to cooperate so I just got her whiskers ;0).

With tody being inauguration day and everything I really wanted to get a picture to reprensent that. The first "Black" man being elected President of the United States is a very historic event and I really wanted to document that. I took pictures of newspapers, headlines, etc, but none really inspired me. I finally came to the conclusion that my feelings about the new President were clouding my "vision" so to speak. I love American and respect the Office of the President no matter what but so far I have not been able to bring myself to completely support Obama. We will see how the next 4 years go.

However, when I had finally given up and take some pics of the CandyLand game the kids and hubby were playing I looked out back and saw the sunset. The beam was going straight up from the sun into the sky. It was incredible. It reaffirmed to me that my life, the country, the world are in God's hands. Whatever may come God is in control.

We finally got some snow and the kids had a ball playing in it today (Mon 19th). It was really cold so they only went out in short bursts and I only lasted long enough to take about 7 pictures before I was too cold. Yes.... I am a wimp. Here they are licking icicles and yes I know that probably was not the most sanitary to thing to let them do. However by the time I caught them they had already had plenty of licks ;0).

We took the kids to see the Harlem Globetrotters today. I was trying out a new point and shoot camera I got, Olympus Fe -330. I am not happy with the pics so I am returning it, but we had a great time at the game. We all laughed continuously. I highly recommend that anyone with smaller children go at least once.

Today (Sat) was a lazy stay at home kind of day for us and by this afternoon the kids were getting stir crazy. My husband and daughter frequently butt heads and this time I just happened to get a picture of it. She was not happy.

3/365

Today was extremely cold outside so I decided to snap a shot of the temperature on our back shed. It was so cold I could barely make my fingers work. This read about -1 but my car with its digital readout read -3 with a windchill of -15. Ouch. However, after listening to the radio I have decided that I am not bad off after all. There was a small village in Alaska with a reported raw temp of -60. This would feel like the tropics to them.

I have been trying to lead a healthier lifestyle for about a year now; however, one of my biggest temptations is chocolate. This day, the chocolate was especially hard to resist. I thought maybe if I captured its image I could steal its soul and it would have no control over me. ;0)

1/365

Good morning all. This is my first post with my first 365 pic. I really had a good time yesterday looking for interesting things to photograph. This one wasn't necessarily my best but it is the one I liked the most. I really like the colors and the perspective in this one.

Project 365

You all will see "Project 365" mentioned in many spots all over the web. It was started by Taylor McKnight on January 1st, 2004. McKnight decided to document a year of life with a picture from each day. As I am trying to improve my photography skill and I want to give blogging a go, I decided I would combine both. Each day I will post a pic for that day and a blurb to go along with it. I hope not only to become a better photographer and writer; I also want to document what catches my eye through the year and what it says about me as a person. I hope you enjoy the pictures and the blurbs and please feel free to add any comments or critiques.
