Cincinnati Zoo

On the 4th of July we took the kids to the Cincinnati Zoo. It was a dreary rainy day but that worked in our favor cause there was no crowd. This is one of the best pics I got that day. I hated snakes but the kids love them so I am almost always forced to take pictures of them.

Cincinnati Reds

We went to a Cincinnati for 4th of July weekend. On Friday the 3rd we went to watch the Reds take on the St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds lost (of course) but we had a great time! After the game the Screaming Eagles from the 101st Airborne gave a jump demonstration which was awesome. Then we got to watch so very cool fireworks set to patriotic classics. I got all teary eyed. The first pic is of the fireworks, the second is of my son Eli (gotta love the evil grin), and the third is of Reds player Brandon Phillips.

Swimming!

My kids are complete water hounds. They would live at the pool if I let them. This is at a small waterpark near our home with some friends. Mine is the albino one on the right LOL. For some reason my kids were all "blessed" with pale white never tan skin and a mommy who is psycho about sunscreen.

Slip n Slide

The slip and slide was always one of my favorite water toys when I was kid. My kids had an absolute ball on it. However, it only lasted for one day as they were so rough on it they ripped it. For that one day though they had the best time. The were going head first, backwards, upside down, and every other way. Good old fashioned summer fun!

Cutting Time!

This is our neighbor cutting his hay/grass. I love living in the country and seeing all the farmers at work. I just like the feel and life of the country. I always feel smothered in the city; like the wall/buildings are closing in on me. I love all the neat things to see in the city but I am just a country girl at heart.

3 Year Old With Marker

OK, I know it sounds like the title to really bad movie. It was really bad to me. Never let your three year old sneak markers to bed with him at nap time. This picture illustrates in living color what will happen. Took us days to get all the marker off. This was after I had already washed a bit off. Can't wait to use this as a blackmail shot ;o)

Lake Side Fun

IMG_6227

We went to Rough River Lake to enjoy some summer fun with some friends. It was only in the 70s which is kind of cool for the lake but the kids had a ball. I don't do lake water because it grosses me out. However, for some reason, I can swim in the ocean all day. It doesn't bother me a bit (unless I get saltwater in my eyes). Our friends were camping so we would hang out in the camper for a bit and then swim for a bit ;o)

Zoey's Kindergarten Field Day

My baby girl is done with Kindergarten. This is her at the end of her Field Day getting ready for the final tug of war. Love you baby girl!

They grow up so fast and I just have to remind myself every day to enjoy each moment, good and bad, because soon they will be gone and raising their own families.

Finally got to attend my first big concert! Went to see Kenny Chesney, Miranda, Lambert, Sugarland, Montgomery Gentry, and Lady Antebellum. The crowd was 43,ooo plus but we had a ball. Great time! Great show!

New Direction

As you may have noticed I have gotten very far behind on my 365. Therefore, I have decided to suspend my 365 project until January and restart it then. However I am still going to be regularly posting pics that I like and some commentary with them. I appreciate all those who have followed me and I hope that you will continue to follow me and leave any and all comments. Thanks!

Update

Hey all! I have been very bad at keeping up with this since baseball season got into full swing. Caleb played on two baseball teams. One of which just won the State Tournament! Zoey also played softball. Between the two we have pretty much lived at the ballpark. Because of this I have tons of pics but have not had time to upload them. In addition, I lost two weeks worth of pics when I accidentally erased my memory card ;o(. I am planning to just do a mass add here in a couple of days to get my self caught up. Here is one of my most recent. This is my son's baseball team right after they won the State Tournament. They refused to wash their uniforms during the tourney so they are nasty!

120/365

Today was Zoey's Kindergarten field trip to the Louisville Zoo. This is a Crane that we saw there. Going to the Zoo with 12o Kindergartners is always an experience.

119/365

This is Zoey at her first fast pitch softball game. My sister Emily got her the helmet for her birthday. She wore it for 3 days after that LOL. Her team is called the Ladybugs. They are so cute out there on the field.

118/365

We decided to go to a Louisville Bats game on Mothers Day. They are the Triple A team for the Cincinnati Reds. We had a ball. After the game, the kids got to run the bases. Zoey was the only one who wanted to do it. When she was done she said "Whew, those bases are far apart!" She is used to playing on little league fields.

117/365

This is the result of all the rain we have been having. The Ohio River is over its banks in some areas. These are the benches on the waterfront in Louisville.

116/365

Yes, still raining! The kids got tired of staying inside and decided to play in the rain, in their pajamas. They were digging in this puddle for worms. By the time they were finished they had a whole cup full. Yuck!

115/365

Caleb had hit a little bit of a slump batting but he is coming out of it I think. He just wants to hit more home runs so bad that he is trying to kill the ball instead of just making contact. Look at the look on his face. Game on!

114/365

More.....raindrops! Nothing but rain here and so that is what you get pictures of. If it does not stop raining soon, I am going to lose my mind. I am so ready for some nice weather!

113/365

Eli and I went out driving the other day and went by this barn. I just really like the red barn with the white flowers in front. I love living in a rural area but sometimes scenes like this just become common place and I forget to see the beauty in them.

112/365

We have three bird nests in various places around our and house and the kids are completely fascinated by them. This baby bird fell out of the nest trying to fly and I thought I was going to have to tie their hands behind their backs to get them to leave the baby alone. It finally went and hid under our tool shed to get away from them.

111/365

This is a rain drop on a spiderweb hanging on our porch. I think the tendrils are from dandelions of which we have an over abundance. I hate spiders, but think their webs are so pretty, especially when covered in rain or dewdrops.

110/365

Today was the Kentucky Derby so I had to post a horse pic. This one is a really soft focus (again, gotta work on that) but I like the composition. Another one I am going to have to try again.

109/365

Caleb is on two teams now and plays outfield on one and infield on the other so he is having to do double time in the practice department to get both positions down. They were still practicing even though it was raining.

108/365

Zoey is such a cheeser LOL. Her hair was all curly (even more than normal) because of the rain and she wanted me to take a picture.

107/365

I really love the sunbeams shining down on this one. My mom always said that that was God looking down on us ;0) Eli is actually one that spotted this and told me to take a picture.

106/365

I wish this one had turned out better. The focus is way too soft. Hopefully I can try it again another time.

105/365

All of the families on Caleb's team seem to have nothing but boys so Zoey was greatly out numbered. Here they were picking teams for kick ball and she was the last one to be picked. Didn't bother her a bit though. She got right in there with them and kicked their butts! That is my girl.

104/365

Caleb's traveling squad team took second place in his first tournament. However, there were only 3 teams in the tourney lol. The boys didn't care though they were just thrilled to get a trophy.

103/365

This is Eli's shadow at the playground. I just liked the silhouette of it.

102/365

This is my "Mommy, why are you still taking pictures of me look." We grilled out this evening and all the kids had to pull out their little chairs. Eli is never a big fan of having his picture taken.

101/365

Yet again, another from the ballpark where we live this time of year ;0) This is of the sunset through the chain link fence. I liked how the chain link kind of divided it into mini pictures.

100/365

This is the view of the Ohio River from Brandenburg, Kentucky looking over to Indiana. Everything was so calm and pretty this morning.

99/365

This is my youngest little hoodlum at the ballpark. He loves to go there but looks like an orphan by the time we leave because he is so filthy. Here is was getting in trouble for throwing dirt. You can tell he is really scared of me ;0)

98/365

I love this pic. This is of some clouds behind the church we pastor. I think they look like mountains. I love the textures and colors.

97/365

I know this is really blurred but for some reason it really appealed to me that way. I think it is because this is the essence of Eli. He is always in constant motion and in reality, a blur most of the time.

96/365

Looks like we have another photographer in the family :0)
She carries this around everywhere and drives everyone just as crazy as I do taking pictures.

95/365

I just really like the contrast in this picture between the hard barbed wire and the soft flowers.

94/365

Caleb is actually turning into quite the little hitter. The look on his face cracked me up. He was very intense.

93/365

This is the next installment of the dogwood blooming. Feels like it has taken them forever this year.

92/365

Mud, mud, and more mud. It was so cold and wet during this practice. I didn't think it was ever going end. However, look at that form!

91/365

Rain, Rain, Go away. Ok, I know it helps the plants and crops grow but I am also convinced that it increases use of anti depressants. I am so ready for some sunshine and warm weather!

90/365

Seems like we have gotten nothing but rain lately and lots of it. Nothing to do but take pictures of it LOL.

89/365

This was taken at Doe Run Inn on Easter Sunday. They looked so cute in their outfits. I figure I better enjoy being able to make them match while I can because before I know it they will be too old to go along with it ;0)

88/365

These are the eggs that the kids colored for Easter. They had such a great time and the colors turned out really well.

March Mosaic.

I have been making mosaics for each month of pictures but kept forgetting to post them. Here is my March one.

87/365

The clover growing in the fields around here is so pretty. I am hoping to get a pretty day soon so I can get to a higher spot and get a picture of the fields from above. This is the field across from our house.

86/365

This tulip behind our house has been photographed many times in the last few weeks. Hopefully I can eventually do an edit with a time progression. I love taking pictures of things after it rains. They look new and fresh.

85/365

I just love how this turned out. The simplicity of it really appeals to me. It is actually from a funeral arrangement that was donated to our church after one of our members passed away.

84/365

Sunsets after thunderstorms are always so amazing. I love the colors in this one.
